NBT Solutions can design and implement an Earth Observation and Monitoring System that makes information available to all stakeholders. NBT staff are experts in creating systems that tie multiple sensor generated data streams into useful and actionable compilation and redistribution channels. We implement the sensors that collect the data, develop the components that facilitate the wide distribution of the data, and build the custom web-based applications that process, analyze, and report the data. NBT worked on the CBIBS (www.buoybay.org) project for NOAA, designing the data management systems to collect, manage, and report data on ocean and river water conditions in Chesapeake Bay. This data system is relied on by scientists, researchers, educators, recreational boaters and fishermen. The data system was designed, prototyped and delivered using proven, reliable and open source tools , including: - MySQL database engine and MySQL Enterprise tools. As of Dec 2009, the system has in excess of 20 million records. It is fore casted to reach 40 million record/observations in 2010.
- PHP
- Apache Webservers
- Server management via Parallels Virtuozzo.
Data is made available over multiple medium, including web delivery, web service access for developers, syndicated access (RSS and KML) and interactive voice response (IVR) via a toll-free number (1-877BUOYBAY). NBT staff also has experience in air quality and noise monitoring, having designed and maintained a data management and reporting system for Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV). The system was used by both federal and state regulators as well as the interested public to monitor unplanned or exceptional release of hydrogen sulfide and noise incidents at a geothermal power plant. The data management system compiled complex monthly reports, summarizing hundreds of thousands of records to concise, auditable reports.
